STAINLESS STEEL TOM THUMB WEYMOUTH SET HORSE BIT

The Tom Thumb Weymouth Set has two stainless steel mouth pieces; one is a single jointed mouth piece and the other is a ported mullen. The Bradoon (single jointed mouth piece) snaffle works the entire mouth. When the curb rein is activated, the Weymouth (ported mullen) puts pressure on the horse's poll, which makes the horse lower its head putting it into a frame.

Stainless steel is strong, durable and low maintenance. This steel is cast using the "lost wax" technique, which produces a finer finish than traditional sand cast steel.

The leverage and severity increase with the length of the shank, this bit's shank is considered short.

Use: Two reins are used with this bit. A rubber, laced or web rein as your main rein connected to the Bradoon bit ring, the larger of the two rings, and a more narrow flat leather curb rein connected to the Weymouth curb ring, the smaller of the two rings. The Weymouth must fit snuggly while the Bradoon must be 0.5"/1.27MM wider. These two pieces come as a set. For example, if your horse usually wears a 5.5" size, the Weymouth will measure 5 .5"/140MM while the Bradoon will measure 6.0"/153MM. A leather Bradoon Carrier or double bridle is used with this bit.

This bit includes a stainless steel curb chain and hooks. The curb chain must be smooth, flat and adjusted correctly for the Weymouth Set to work properly with your horse. This bit also has a small lip strap ring above the curb ring. The lip strap is a small leather strap that prevents the horse from grabbing the shank of the bit with his lips. A lip strap is not necessary for most horses.
