HANOVERIAN COPPER ROLLER HIGH PORT PELHAM HORSE BIT
HANOVERIAN COPPER ROLLER PELHAM HORSE BIT
The Hanoverian Copper Roller High Port Pelham bit has a stainless steel mouth and a large stainless steel port with a round copper rollers on its sides. These copper rollers are also known as "cherry rollers". Copper is a warm metal that encourages the horse to salivate, which promotes acceptance of the bit. This bit's port is good for stopping the horse from putting their tongue over the bit and allows room for their tongue. This bit is strong and acts as an elevator, lifting the horse's head. The leverage and severity increase with the length of the shank. Its a good bit for very strong hunters. This bit's shank is considered long.
Use: Two reins can be used with this bit, a rubber, laced or web rein as your main rein connected to the bit ring, the larger of the two rings, and a more narrow flat leather curb rein connected to the curb ring, the smaller of the two rings. Leather or nylon converters can also be used with this bit. Converters connect to the bit ring and curb ring. A main rein can then be connected to the converters allowing the rider to use one rein instead of two.
This bit includes a stainless steel curb chain and hooks. The curb chain must be smooth, flat and adjusted correctly for the Pelham to work properly. This bit also has a small lip strap ring above the curb ring. The lip strap is a small leather strap, which prevents the horse from grabbing the shank of the bit with his lips. A lip strap is not necessary for most horses.
